Captain O's 11 month Post

Hey Y'all,

Happy Monday! I know most of you probably loathe Mondays. Clearly weekends were not made long enough.

Today O is 11 months old! Holy Crack-a-lackin that is just mind boggling. He is definitely a boy on a mission most of the time. He is now full on crawling..mostly when he realizes it is much faster and wants to. He still army crawls to places and is continuously taking leaps and bounds in walking along objects and climbing random house objects.

I do not know if any of you still own a actual VCR..but we do. I know its very RETRO..lol. But when you have certain copies of movies that you have not bought in another form or illegally downloaded in another version I dare say..you must use the old ways with a VHS tape. Well we do not believe in fully blocking off the real world from our children. This being said lately O and the VCR and DVD player are becoming quite the companions and wrestling partners. O likes to climb up on the tv unit and push the flap on the VCR or push it all the way through the unit till it drops down the back..with the DVD player on the shelf below included. It is quite entertaining to watch. Miss E will just shake her head and say Ohhhhh Oooooo! You can forget to tell him down or Ta. O has a mind of his own and he does not listen to reasoning. Explore at his own will he does. We usually end up moving him about 10-20 times and then say "Oh well if he falls he will learn. "

Sooo about two weeks or so ago..we got to take O in to a paediatrician to look at his manhood. The poor kid had the cyst like formation removed and also the skin around his penis head put down to wear it should have been when he got circummsized. So to sum up what happened. The doctor used a bigger needle with more force and removed the pea shaped formation off of his penis..which may return. It was basically the skin had grown over a oil gland that when you are not circummsized it produces oil to separate the skin down there. All naturally there. When it got covered it kept thickening the oil and it was trapped..turns sort of chalky and hard. The skin around..the purple helmet the doctor called it was scar tissue from when we had him circummsized and it had regrown up higher than it should..so that got popped back into place. Glad it was my DH that took the poor boy in and not me.

O is doing great on Homo. We are constantly trying new foods with him. O even had a peanut butter sandwich with his sister on the weekend and shared in our spaghetti and garlic bread at dinner last night. In fact he loved dinner while his silly sister just sat there and picked at the bread. Go figure a kid that refuses to try new foods or tomato sauce.

Lately O is making lots of fun noises with his mouth. He is a big water boy and loves baths or the pirate ship water table we play in on the deck. I would not be surprised if he does not have more teeth soon or uses two words together shortly. Each day is an adventure with our curious little guy, but he amazes us each day and we love him so dearly.

Miss E:

Ohhh Two's the roller coaster of emotions. One day we listen like a sweet girl..the next we are upset because the bathroom door is closed or as E would say "oh no, its locked".

We started potty training two weeks ago now. The first day was horrible. As the first week progressed it got better. This past week we went 4 days with no accidents which is huge for her young age. We are still putting a diaper on Miss E for nap, night and if we are going out on long outings. Usually on outings or nap though she is now dry. I am not wanted to wake her up at night quite yet and we still are pretty wet come morning. Before we started all of this I tried to decrease her milk at dinner but she was always wanting more and acting thirsty. We have enough problems with constipation between her and O we do not need to go there right now. Over all she is doing really well. We have to work on the telling us when she has to go and listening part. E likes to run in the other direction when we ask her unless she is already almost peeing her pants. Most days we only have 1 accident if that. She has even pooped on the potty a couple times.

Other than potty training we are just working on listening and vocal. We would like to put her in a preschool program up here to get her a bit more socialized before school next year. Scary right..she will still be 3 starting school. Bless her little heart. Also everything is "Mine" E will tell you..even if it is something that she should not have. One of our favourite things she is saying "Me Too" but when E says it, it always sounds like "I'm Two". It is a running joke around her lately.

Well right now I am going to have some mommy quiet time. It has been a long morning and I know I do not have much more time left before I go get the little guy. Love to all The Brants.

O's 10 month Post

Another month has gone and past. Here I am sat in front of my laptop trying to think of what to tell you. Well we only have less than 2 months until Mr.O is a 1 year old. Some days it really shows more than others.

O is starting to crawl a little here and there..I give it another week in a bit and he may be full on crawling everywhere. Before he would just move his legs and not his arms..things are slowly coming together. He is standing up all over and trying to climb onto other obstacles to get things he deems fit to play with or grab. Some days that means leaning over the play food tote to reach into the mega blocks to get them out one by one. Other days it means opening the potato bag in the kitchen and slamming the large drawer open and closed. E's colouring books are no longer safe on her little desk if not put away properly.

He is doing really well on mashed foods. Slowly we will soon introduce him to pieces..we have not tried to master the picking up small pieces as of yet. We give him the small cereal puffs but he will not put them in his own mouth just yet. He loves to try new foods. The expressions I get are priceless.
In about a week I would say we will be done all of my breast milk add into the bottles. Makes me sad a tiny bit. But also he is growing so well and is ready for all HOMO bottles.

This week we are dealing with sleep issues in both children. O and E have colds..we thought it was just teeth but it is definitely a cold that has to run its course. As it gets warmer..colds are not any fun to sleep with. Especially with little noses that run like faucets.

If you have followed all along. E's first word was Hi..O has said Mama and Dada for awhile but definitely is sounding like he is trying to say Hi as well as okay. Which is quite funny.

We went to the doctor for O's penis growth today and we are being referred to a paediatrician in town to see what he thinks it is and the next step to take.

E:

Poor little Miss E has a ear infection. I can honestly say we have made it his far and have never had to give her any antibiotics until now. Which is  amazing in itself. My heart breaks seeing her in so much pain. But it is so hard for them to voice what hurts and where when they are so wee. After E deciding to not eat lunch and napping her instead ..then to have her wake and scream holding her ear. Every time I asked her if it hurt she was screaming and hitting and just not herself. I am soooo thankful we got her in right away today. Poor little ladybug.

Other than that E is great! She is learning lots of new words. Her personality keeps growing. O and E love each other so much..which is enough to make your heart melt.

I would like to say our picky eating has changed..but sadly it has not. This weekend we will be putting some garden flowers and plants in. We bought E a little wheel barrow to help out. Last year she loved getting into the dirt with us. So we really thought she could help out. I will be sure to take lots of pictures.

As for now its quiet..they are asleep..I will be sure to post pics soon...promise.

O's 9 Month Checkup

Hey Y'all.

It is Thursday Thank Goodness! Crazy how some weeks feel and you know you can not wait until the weekend.

Today we took O to his 9 month check up. We had to move it out a week since Doug was on a training course last week. I originally thought that he had to get three shots today but that is next appointment. Which is great! Not so much for O but as for this time it was a good thing.

O is growing up to be quite a big lad. According to the Percentile he is only like 42% in weight and something like 37% in Height..but head circumference because for some weird reason..he is 67%! The boy has a large head! Soooo maybe just Maybe he will turn out to be as smart or smarter than his brainy dad.

My DH had guessed that O would weigh in at 21lbs. Well O now weighs 20lbs 11.5oz.  When we had E in for her 9 month apt she was only 19lbs 8 oz..so O is just a wee bit bigger than his sister was. O is now 27.95 inches long. Last time he was only 26.18 inches in length..so slowly getting taller.  His head is 18.1inches around..poor guy.

Everything else checks out great! He is a healthy growing boy. We did get the doctor to check a growth on O's penis that has been there for quite some time that is getting larger. The doctor was going to drain it this time..but after two needle sizes later and finding it moves under the skin like a pea. She thinks it may be a cyst or fat deposit of some sort. So in the mean time we are to keep a eye on it. We have an appointment in a month to see if we need to get referred to get it removed. Poor little guy. I would not care so much if it would just go away and was not on his penis. Apparently it is easier if it is larger to remove if it is a benign cyst.

We also weighed E while we are there just for fun and she is now 32lbs!!!! No wonder she feels so heavy to carry some days.

Well that is all the news I have for now. I will be sure to definitely do some updating on pictures in the near future.

XOXOXO love The Brants

O's 9 Months (Lace up Running Shoes)

Happy Spring or should I say Wintery Spring! Is it sad that yesterday O turned 9 months old and it has been soooo Crazy around here that I just noticed after seeing the date on my phone at one point and my monthly update from a babycenter website.

A month brings a whole bunch of change that happens in a infants life. Especially when they are 8-9 months old. O is now starting to transition from my pumped breast milk to mixing in Homo. Currently we are down to half/half mixed bottles which I will do for a while since my supply was so ahead. I would have to say that he is doing pretty well with the switch so far. He has not seemed to have any issues with the homo..but we have had him eating yogurt for quite awhile.

Just recently we have started to give O mashed food instead of pureed which is quite funny to watch. We went from inhaling our food at meals to having to chew and taking anywhere from 1/2 hour to 1hr. Mimicking chewing to a 9 month old trying to get him to not gag and swallow the food whole can be quite a entertaining task.

Recently we have had some seperation anxiety. When leaving the room he will army crawl to find me or just to have me insight. It is more so when his sister is not in the room with him also. It happens a lot more often at night when we put him to bed. He used to just go to sleep but now if we do not go and stay for a bit he freaks out. Currently he will hold daddy's finger until he is ready to drift off and then let go. So now we have a routine where O gets to join in on storey time in his sisters room before he goes down for the night. One day I had a pee party with both kids and the dogs in the room with me.

He is quite a character. He knows when he is up to no good. He will get a cheeky grin or look across his face. For example he will army crawl like mad to the dogs water dish to splash it all over the floor.  Sounds like a fun mess right! Well if you tell him to stop or turn around you are wasting your breathe. He will have this look on his face the entire time like as if to tell you to try and stop him.  Makes for a fun game...not so much for the dog who has to ask for her food to be set back down.

Teething like crazy. I can still see and feel his 2nd top front tooth coming through. I also noticed his 4 eye teeth are felt right underneath the gums. Leave it to my children to get a whole bunch of teeth in all at the same time. And when O is grumpy he is grumpy. He is normally a really happy little guy. Teeth are currently no match for him. He is someone I have to give prunes to every day in one of his meals. Well not as of this week..he is pooping like crazy and he is STINKY!!!

Crawling is starting to slowly become more than a army crawl. My DH and I believe that it is a mind game more than anything now. He rocks back and forth and moves his legs forward but not his hands. He will however pull himself up places and wants to stand and sit up. Sitting up with little help is getting better every day. His balance is improving greatly. Sooner than we know we will be running around everywhere and O likes to explore!

News on E:

E is 2 and lately it shows. Somedays are a roller coaster and are full of ups and downs. Other days we are just silly and explore the world around us. Each day is amazing and new. We are continuously learning as a mom and toddler. Today was a long day...well this week is but that has a lot of factors.

We wake up early to start each day. Up with the birds as you say. We laugh a great deal and sometimes have tears. Today is a long hard day! Just the normal set of toddler tantrums. I am really trying to work on E to use more words so that she does not get so frustrated and explode.

A couple of E's new favourite things are Dora Books, Sorting Blocks, Singing "Let it Go" from FROZEN!!!  We are always building towers, dancing and colouring.

Each day brings new words. We have been working on speech with Potato heads, singing songs repeatedly and labelling  things in the house and really pronouncing words when we use them. E will tell you if we are going outside we need her sunglasses, shoes, coat and hat on. If I ask her " Do you hear that?" she will cup her hand to her ear to listen.

She really loves her brother a lot. Sometimes with a little too much aggression when showing affection. We are constantly reminding her to be gentle...as well as her brother. The Hair pulling and O really need to stop..I am afraid soon I am going to be bald.

A couple weeks ago when my parents were up E was having a toddler tantrum due to she did not want to pick up the mega blocks. Well I ended up with a  swollen bruised face due to my lovely toddler swinging a block straight into my nose. Needless to say after the immediate pain had calmed down I put her in a timeout. Well a couple weeks later and I still am being hit there somehow from one or the other of them..and I swear I am going to have a permanent bruise/scar. Sooo if someone ever asks you on a scale from 1-lego how bad does it hurts...it is definitely the LEGO! Usually in that case they are talking about stepping on the tiny lego..but in my it was a massive megablock brick in the face. We are big on TIME OUTS lately and TIME INS! Toddlers hate either so much you mention in and she cries thinking about it. We give a lot of choices and chances for her to make the right choice before taking action.

We love, play and grow all together. Sometimes very loudly. Today is a day where I need to keep thinking about the good moments we share..so I will not trade my toddler tot he gypsies. HAHA. If I was not so tired I would write more about E..She is sprouting up like crazy and we love her to pieces even if sometimes it is trying. Right now I am off to tell her to stop jumping in her bed!!!!

XOXOXO The Brants!

O's 8 Months!

Another month has flew past us. Hard to believe that we are halfway through March already and into St.Patrick's Day on Monday.  In another 4 months we will be half way through summer (I know hard to imagine right now) and O will be 1 years old.

You know how when you have your first child and it seems to fly by and then other days or months seem to go on forever. Well we find O is changing even faster than E ever did. From how fast his hair grows to how much more he weighs and eats. He is always watching his sister and trying to do things a 8 month old should not be trying already.

O is going to be quite the character. He is constantly screeching at E to get her attention when on the floor scooting around while he army crawls. They love to hug and kiss each other and E is always showing him new things to play with and try out. O loves to try and make us laugh and smile and then will mimic our facial expressions.

Our menu is always increasing. He has had Mango, avocado, turkey and pork, wheat & corn cereals. We are going to make some broths soon and start to make foods chunkier soon to get him to chew more often. A lot of the time he just inhales food and we can not get it into his mouth fast enough. My DH likes to call it a assembly line. We have not gotten any more teeth yet. I am sure they are currently on their way as he is chewing everything a lot more lately and is having some fussy times which is unlike O.

He is constantly practising his Mama's, Dada's and Nanaaa. As well as singing with his sister and myself. We are always singing and making up silly songs which both E and O love. We are never short of giggles in our house for sure and screeching to get other peoples attention.

Currently I am still pumping but will be stopping at 8 1/2 months for I am still over a month ahead and I feel at 8 1/2 months I am going to start to switch O slowly onto Homo..mixing it in with the Breast Milk. He loves yogurt and it has not seemed to bother his system so we are a go. I have to say it will feel great to not feel like a cow and be able to wear some regular mom clothes again.

Miss E:

E is word explosion. From beginning to say please and thank you more often to repeating words and sounding them out. Please happens when we ask or if she really wants something. Thank you is something to be desired unless she hands you something and runs away when saying it to you.

Today she noticed the kitchen clock was missing from the mall since we needed to change the batteries in it. Doug had taken it down. Well we spent an entire lunch time listening to "OH Nooooooo, It's all None(aka Gone). The Clock..Ohhhh Noooo The Clock". We had to let her know it needed to be fixed and have new batteries put in. That was not okay at all since it is meant to be on the wall. So my DH went and fixed it and put it back in its place. This made her feel a lot better about the situation. Some days you just have to laugh. My husband said I did not even know she knew the clock existed or what it was for that matter. Two year olds do not miss a beat!

Our days are busy and usually a roller coaster of emotions. It is a hard life not being able to tell mom and dad exactly what you want to say or understanding how you feel. E loves to help us out a lot lately. Today she helped vacuums. It was very funny to watch my husband vacuum while my toddler pulls back on the hose at the same time thinking she is helping him out. We let her wipe off her area with the dish cloth where she ate at the table. E also loves to sweep and washing out hands is so fun.

Each day she is taller, uses more words(parroting us) and is learning with the world around her. I am so grateful I get to spend time with her watching her explore the world and creating new experience to help her grow and explore/learn each day. I have never had so many kisses and hugs and love..it makes the tantrums and frustration melt away.

Oh and If you have a Mr.Potato Head without a butt..we have it! E will let you know we are missing the Potato and help you look for it..but we have the butt. The other day I picked up a bag of heads and pieces to go with the potato heads we already have. Well when she found the bum piece that was extra. E started to call out "Oh Potato, Where are You". This is after I asked her where the Potato was to the missing bum piece. It was a funny site. We always search for her Hippo that way. Especially when PO her Hippo hides on her.

Also if you ask E to do something or go somewhere you will hear her state right after your question "And PO too!" as she grabs her Hippo and hugs and kisses it. For you can never go anywhere without bringing your Pink Hippo with you.

With laughter and Yawns I sign off. Pics to come eventually xoxo

O's 7 Months Old!

Hey Y'all,

Hope Winter is not hitting you too hard. We are all sick again..well everyone except this Mama here. I already got past one illness and somehow have not gotten what the rest of my family currently has. Our house is filled with steam humidifiers, vicks rubs and Puffs Tissues!!! Yahoo for Winter Colds.

Captain O is changing every day!Hard to believe he is 7 months and that there is only 5 more months until he is a year old!  He has two bottom teeth fully through!!! He will let you know he has them when he smiles and also when he decides to gnaw on your hand or accidentally bite you when he is not teething on a toy. We believe he will soon be having more coming through soon. As he is constantly drooling and teething on everything. Everything just looks like it has to be eaten though right?

He is currently on the move. He is not fully crawling as of yet but is pretty darn close. He rolls and turns to where he wants to go. Reaches and grabs objects from the floor or knocks them over for him to get to them..or kicks them down. He even has a bridge maneuver where he will pivot off of things to turn or roll another way. E is constantly taking things from him or trading him toys. You know the things O should not have or are hers or that are too small for his little hands and mouth. He is crawling backwards slowly when he wants to. But that being said it is more of a army crawl after he is up on all four he pushes and slides his body backwards. Quite Crafty if you ask me. The boy has mad skills!!!

O loves food and will tell you if he is not eating on time. He eats 4 oz of solids 3 times a day with 4 bottles a day. He sleeps all night. Obviously not recently due to this congestion he is dealing with. We put him back to sleep at 5am. He has had pear, green beans, chicken, yogurt, peaches, banana, blueberries and raspberries. Soon we are going to do beef and more meats and fruits. Eventually we will move onto chunkier things and other cereals. We can not shovel things into his mouth fast enough most days.

Babbling is what we are known for. O definitely talks more when daddy is home. We were walking through Pet Smart and Canadian Tire this past weekend and he was saying Dada to me the whole time. We know he is not fully aware of what he is saying. Still it is really nice to hear him copy us, coo and try to sound out words. He was saying Mama a while back. He really loves his Daddy though!  You remember watching "There's Something About BOB". You know the scene where they are eating dinner and he is moaning and talking about how everything tastes so yummy. Think of that scene..close your eyes..that is really O eating food! Makes me laugh every time.

Also my dear husband and I have decided that our children are in cahoots with each other. They both have a little evil giggle where they are doing something together they should not. Twins have a secret code and so do siblings. Changing them at the same time is sometimes more trouble than it is worth. Cute and Funny..but also challenging. They always want to hold each other hands and giggle/smile at each other.

Miss E:

I am going to just throw in info about E from now on or I will never remember to do both blog posts. Unless its a spontaneous post just about her where it is super exciting.

E is well a super fun, dramatic and exploring toddler. Always singing and dancing. Constantly testing her surroundings and boundaries. We love to play hide and seek and giggle until you find her and say no when you are looking for her and ask if she is say under the couch cushions.

We love to colour a lot lately. She is such a little artist. Copying mama at trying to shade and colour inside the lines. We are getting very good at using manners and asking to do activities. Cleaning up is touch and go. If she wants to do another activity she will help you clean up faster in a heartbeat.

I have decided I am not going to potty train her until she can really tell us when she is going. Right now she is starting to explode in speech but is just not quite there yet. Also we are still soaked when we wake up in the morning.

I will be sure to post some newer pictures soon. Until then have a good family day!
