Today we went for our 5 month ultrasound. My parents are on holidays so they came up to attend my doctors app with Doug and I. We were the first ones there...we even beat the doctor and the receptionist. Doug's theory is if we are early..then we can usually be called into one of the rooms first.
My blood pressure was good once again...which is nice to hear considering it is a hard thing to do especially at doctors app while you are pregnant. Today was the app where we could find out the sex..which Doug and myself do not care really what we are having as long as it is healthy and happy. We have waited over 3 years just to get pregnant and this far..so what is a couple more months right. We have pretty much decided we are not going to ask the doctor about it..if it shows up on its own that is a whole other story. We can not really control what happens on a ultrasound..and that clearly shows from the stubborn baby we were working with today while getting the ultrasound done.
Our baby is around 1lb already and I can not remember how many ounces he was saying. We are having another ultrasound done again next time as..he could not really get a good look at the heart chambers. Baby B (b=brant) was looking down with its head facing downwards it looks like it blocks the heart so the doctor could not really get a great look at it. Which also means..another app where we did not get a really good pic. We had to leave with a partial face shot..which is better than nothing. Everything else looks really good and normal..and our results from testing came back negative..which is also good to hear. I am only around 203pounds so I have only gained another 1lb since last time...I am pretty much just gaining baby weight. Not bad at all..I am starting to show a little but it may take me longer considering it looks like I am just gaining baby.
The doctor kept telling me my belly button is in the way today. The face/head just happens to be directly underneath my belly button...so he really had to abuse the baby/my stomach to try and get any readings for measurements and pictures. He even bounced the scanner tool up and down in one spot..just to see if the baby would move and cooperate...but no such luck..stubborn through and through just like its father. I am in honest belief that even if we did want to know the sex that we would not have been able to see it anyway..just due to the contortionist/pretzel that is occupying my stomach. The doc did ask us we wanted to look at that area..I told him that my husband and I do not care either way if we find out...but my mother would like to know. At that point he responded..well maybe we will look at that at another point. Kinda made us all smile a little.
I think Doug and I had surprised the doctor by asking our parents if they would like to come with us. Ultrasounds have changed a lot since they were pregnant way back in the day. Our doctor is also one of specialists in our area. So he has all the fancy high-tech equipment in his office. Hence the face ultrasound picture I will post for you all to see. It kinda looks like a wrinkly baby/old man due to the form he captured the picture with . But our baby so far looks like it already has hair on its head..which is pretty cool I might add...and it has beautiful lips. We got to see the baby move its fingers and toes around...its such an amazing thing.
I have started to feel movement for a bit already. It is kinda of more often some days than others. I asked the doc how often I should feel it...and he said it varies. I also asked him about funny symptoms I have been having and he kinda just laughs which is a little nerving. Doug was surprised that I did not say anything in anger back to him..as for when I asked the doctor about my itchy armpits which I have only had since I have been pregnant..and let me tell you..Doug compares me to a chimp...Sometimes it is really bad. Apparently not a common symptom according to the doctor..he told me to "Itch them then". I really do not think its funny that I am not taken seriously about things like that..but what can you do really.
I am writing this blog on the desktop mac...so mad at my water glass that I knocked over...never thought I would be putting my mac book in danger.. I am currently praying it all drys out and that nothing is lost or damaged..I moved it as fast as I could..I can only blame myself. I am typing on a foreign keyboard...it just does not have the same groove..I got to spend the day with my parents which was nice..and finally did my prenatal yoga for the week.
This week we have been dealing with fleas on the dog...work..I got some good deals for maternity stuff at value village and in 2 days we are on much needed holidays for the week. My next app is on Sept 29,2011. Hard to believe there is only 19wks left until our baby is due. Crazy how the time really fly's by.
I will be sure to update again next time..if not sooner..I know I need to take some belly shots..and explain some things I am learning and experiencing..so I promise..more updating...despite the business of our daily lives..so def more pics and updates..Our spare bedroom stuff is in the basement now..we have put together the crib and bought/put the mattress in the crib to make sure if fits. Doug wants to start to get some things bought and built before he has to do some possible traveling. Plus we are the downward side of our hill/journey..getting closer every day. I have to get my butt in gear and start ordering things..getting stuff together for my brother and his fiance for the twin boys they will be having in Dec sometime. Her shower is at the end of the month..so I will be booking the day off..for my doctors app and just heading down to my mothers once I book it all off of work. So many exciting things in such a short amount of time.
