Week 36 app

    Today we went to see the doctor for our week 36 app. We had to wait a bit for the doctor..he always seems to be late even before the day starts..due to hospital rounds and c-sections..deliveries ect. I would want him there if it was me in labour..so I do not mind the wait so much..others complain.

We were the first to get there. After waiting and finally getting called in..we were weighed like usual. This time I had gained around 3 1/2 pounds since last weds. Funny how near the end of pregnancy you seem to gain more and more often..or just retain more water..which is probably my case if you have seen my ankles lately you would know why. Mondays seem to be the case of the swollen ankles for me. I do not know what I am doing differently. I am not saying they are not sort of swollen now a days..but Mondays for some reason seem to be a lot worse. Mondays are Kankle days!!!

 All the doctor did today was measure my blood pressure and listened the heartbeat of the baby. All is well. I also had to ask him what I am allowed to take right now for colds. He told me to just try to not get sick. I was asking cause I have already gotten sick again. He told me I could take anything over the counter. So today when I was downtown I picked up some more cough drops..and Tylenol Nighttime. I already have some Tylenol Cold plus mucous relief at home..just in case I need it. I am hoping since I am off right now that I can just drink lots of fluids..use my Netti Pot and rest. Getting sick kind of puts a damper on my plans of trying to get things organized the babies room..I do not really want to touch everything and put my cold germs on the already clean clothes and baby items.

I also found out that I am in the 25% of people that are positive for the Group B Streptococcus. So I now have to get a antibiotic as soon as I am in labour and at the hospital. This antibiotic is given to me so that the baby does not get passed the strep and get any infections. Go figure eh!!

After I had left the doctors office I had Doug drop me off downtown to go to Glow Maternity to use my wag jags and have a bra fitting done for some nursing bras. I have to go back tomorrow however for the lady who is one of the owners had to go home and have her husband fill in. Her little bambino has caught a cold alike to the one I have and she was looking after him for the day. So tomorrow I will go back in and hopefully will be able to get them or at least order in the sizes I need to have in before I have my new little one here in my arms.

We go back again to the doctor next Thursday. After this upcoming Saturday December 17th I will be in my 37th week..which will mean I am full term according to doctors even though your actual pregnancy is 40 weeks. The baby would be mature enough and healthy enough to not be considered premature anyway. Doug keeps joking around about next weekend and having the baby come way earlier than the due date..think someone may be getting a little anxious to meet our bundle of joy. I would be okay with the baby waiting for its escape until after Christmas however. At least then it would only be 2 weeks before the due date.

I will write again next week after we go on the 22nd of December.

Locked and Loaded Week 35

" I can see you are still pregnant".

Those are the words the doctor had said to me as he came in the room today. I replied " That's a good thing isn't it?". He told me that is a GREAT thing.


Alot has happened lately. I have become a Aunt again to two amazing cute but tiny twin boys named Zachary and Cameron. My brother and his fiance Jen had an emergency C-section on November 25..hard to believe that they were 8 weeks early and now are almost 2 weeks old. They are all doing amazingly well considering the situation..and we all send much love and prayers their way each day.

Today at my appointment I have only gained 1pound this past two weeks..which is good. I had to do the strep B swab..horrible uncomfortable..I believe your Guchy screams at you in disgust and closes up completely before you even get the swab in the correct place. All in all..it is done...lol.

The doctor used his hands to measure the baby to see where it was at and did an ultrasound scan to make sure Baby B was head down like he had thought. We all want to be extra sure. I was hoping he would let us know an estimate of how big Baby B is..but no such luck. He is just happy with how everything is going so far..it all looks good. My blood pressure is still great..which is good considering that on monday when I was off..doing laundry and baking..my feet..ankles and calves were all one massive blob. I did not have ankles..I had CANKLES. That went away...thank goodness.

Now I have 3 more days of work until I am done for the year. Common mat leave. I just baby B does not get any ideas and come early. I would really prefer that it stays there until Jan or at least waits until after Christmas is over..not that we ever have a say in when God has planned for the precious little ones to enter this world.

Other exciting news.. I had a foot under my rib cage the other day..and B keeps sticking its but out randomly...which is a lot of fun and interesting pressure. Tonight Doug and I are going to attempt to take some Maternity shots of our own..just in case someone decides to make an earlier appearance that what we have hoped. The nursery is coming along..I will be sure to post pics soon..I would just like to be a bit more organized in there before I post what I feel is pretty much done.

Locked down and loaded..for now that is! B's feet are to the side of me still...so who knows what he/she has planned.

Baby B you got me and your father on our toes.

It has been quite a while since I have last posted. I have not had too much new things to tell you to be honest. I am going to the doctor every 2 weeks. Last time we went..we waited two hours due to a delayed c-section at the hospital. The ER needed the room for another emergency surgery so the doctor got delayed. So finally when we got to see the doctor..our blood pressure was good..he checked the heartbeat and measured me and sent us on our way. 

That same night we go to a prenatal class that we are taking in the studio above a local maternity & baby store called Glow.  It is held every wednesday for then month of November. We starting going at the beginning of November. It is ran by a Doula in our area who is an amazing woman. It was delayed that week due to one of her clients went into labour and we had to reschedule. 

Tonight we go again to prenatal class again..last week we went twice to make up for the one week. We are learning a lot about what can help in delivery...different positions we can use to labour in and how to cope with pain and such..what measures they may have to take at the hospital. Development of the baby...massage and distraction techniques the husbands can help us with while in the hospital. We are even given info on community resources and recovery after the baby is born. Doug already has his opinions about alternative measure such as forceps and the vacuum. Apparently he is totally against the use of them on our baby. I do not agree with them much either but if they do need to be used to help get the baby our safely..what has to be done has to be done.
 

Today's appointment was not too bad. I did not get to have an ultrasound like I was hoping. He took my blood pressure like normal. The receptionist weighed me before hand..last time I had went to the doctor the 10 pounds i had finally gained back plus the 2lbs had changed again. I had lost the 2 lbs. So this time when she weighed me I was surprised to see that I have gained 7lbs in the past two weeks since I had been to the doctor. Which is making up for all the weight I had not gained so far. So in total at this point I have gained 17lbs in total during this pregnancy so far. Which is good..but also not a lot since in the beginning I had lost 10 lbs. Weird how things work. I guess I it taking what is there already and mostly just baby.  

Today when he listened to the heartbeat he said it sounded like a "Winter Snow Storm in there". Those were the doctors words exactly. I asked if were getting an ultrasound again soon since we have not had one in a long time since the heart pictures and he said no due to everything is looking so good. I then asked if he could tell how the baby is situated and apparently we are already in the head down position. Which is good considering I was not really sure if Baby B had flipped or turned as of yet. I am not exactly getting kicked in the ribs or anything as of yet..which I had thought I would have if the baby had already turned to being head down. But I am a wee short lass and the B is sitting very low..which also explains my horrible tailbone/ sciatic nerve/lower back pain I am getting mostly all the time.

Things are moving quite quickly..hard to believe I am in my 33rd week. After Saturday I have 6 weeks until my due date and 2 weeks until I am done work. I am officially starting my mat leave after Dec 10th. I figured having 4 weeks until my due date would give me some time to get things ready and relax a bit before our new addition arrives. Plus I wanted to get out of being on cash before the big holiday rush and all the turkeys start coming through the tills again. Doug and I will not be going to far once I am done work..laying low for the holidays as for we are due two weeks after Christmas and who knows what might happen. I will be sure to write again soon..this has hopefully caught you all up for a bit.

Week 29 App

Today Doug, Baby B and I went to the doctors. We had our appointment at 8:45am, so we did not have to wait very long to get to see the doctor.  We did not have an ultrasound this time..so I can not tell you about any exciting movements or how big B is. I have now finally surpassed the weight I lost in the beginning of the pregnancy. I now am 212lbs...which for me is not too bad at all. I am purely all baby B.

The doctor measured my tummy..took my blood pressure reading and listened to the heartbeat. Everything is both normal and average. He asked about if we have had the blood sugar test done and we have. If we have learned anything from how long we have seen this specialist..if he does not normally say anything if everything is good. So he looked in his folder and did not say much. I am guessing that means that everything is great.

A couple of weeks ago I had some spells where I was feeling like I was overheated and going to pass out/ black out at work.  I told him about it..and that it had happened a couple more times during different situations that week. He explained it is quite common and normal..pre-blackout..a way the body tells you to calm down and cool off. Walking to work is becoming a harder task. I now sound like I have asthma before I get all the way to work. It is also probably due to the fact that I am getting a head cold. Which seems to be really running my body down. I have made it this far without getting sick at all....I have less than 10 weeks and 2 days left and I am getting sick. Good thing I can take Tylenol products or working may be difficult..my head is feeling like a balloon.

While we were there he also did a swab to make sure I do not have an infection. I have not had to see the duck lips in a while..I have to say I did not miss them at all. Kinda nice to be measured by a measuring tape in length and not width..lol. Things are all looking really good according to the doctor.

I have to go back in two weeks. November 9th is my next appointment. You know it is really getting down in time when you start going every two weeks to see the doctor. After this Saturday I will have 10 weeks until my due date..Crazy how time is flying by.

So much to do in so little of time.

Bazinga's, Family Baby Shower and 3rd Trimester!

I have not posted in quite awhile. As of this past Saturday Oct 22nd..I am now in my 29th week which means in the start of the 3rd trimester and I now only have 11 weeks left to go until Baby B's Due date of January 7th, 2012.

The past couple of weeks I have started to feel Baby B move more and more. To me it still feels like Bazinga's. Now you are probably wondering what I mean by all of that. If you watch Big Bang Theory. Doug and I like to watch it on a regular basis. There was an episode where Sheldon Cooper was doing massive research on string theory I do believe and in part of the show..it shows him in a ball pit..popping up yelling "Bazinga" and then  diving back under all the colourful balls. His friend kept trying to find him and was not being very successful. He also likes to use the term like a "gotcha" kinda expression. So when I say bazinga's it feels like bubbles popping here and there..little jabs..pokes..kicks..nothing quite painful. B is always Bazingaing me!!

Normally I am usually the only one who can feel it..sometimes my stomach even jumps. Doug felt B move for the first time a week or two ago. He was sitting beside me..I was leaning on him..so B would have been right beside him and it was moving here and there. Doug kinda asked me if that was the baby. He would kinda poke me here and there and wait..and every couple of seconds or so later..B would poke daddy back. It was a really nice moment that I will always remember. It brought a big smile to Doug's face.

This past weekend my mom had my Baby shower for B and I..and Jen too!! I say Jen too..just so you are confused....because there was presents sent from far away from other family members which did not make it in time for her shower earlier on and people who came to my shower that also had some things for Josh, Jen and the Twins.

It was mostly family and family friends who were invited..it was not a huge turnout as planned..a lot of family was sick on Doug's side or the children were sick. A lot is going around this time of year..very understandable. The shower was originally supposed to be a surprise but between Doug and my Bosses Miss-communication and such..I ended up getting a shift on the day of the shower and he kinda had to tell me about it.

Doug and I are very Thankful for all who came and brought our soon to be bundle of joy lots of necessities. We played fun games..had good food and lots of nice company. Now all I have to do is buy or make baby thank you cards. I believe we are going to have one of the cleanest babies on the block.

There are way too many pictures to post them all..and the problems I am having with adding them in and getting it to work properly today are not going well. So there is a sneak peak of the shower. We are very thankful and appreciate all who could share in the shower with us.  As for the pics of the Babies Room..they will have to wait until they are a little more done and when I am not so frustrated with Blogger. 

I have my next doctors app this Wednesday October 26th in the morning. I will be sure to put another update about how Baby B and I are doing and perhaps some more pictures.

I will just be sitting here tonight letting B Bazinga me away.

The Prenatal Appointment of many Walks..

Today we went for our 25 week 6 day appointment. Tomorrow I start my 26th week..which means  I will have 14 weeks left to go...EEK!!!

Our appointment was at 9:15...Holly came with us this time. The doctor is honestly going to think that I have my own little entourage...next time we are going alone..lol. We had to have another ultrasound done due to the fact that the doctor did not get  a close enough look at the heart functions to make sure everything was fully formed ect. We waited a bit and then went in..sat in one room and moved to another. Holly actually got to see each of the appointment rooms today...due to lots of fun complications.

We started off in one room getting some views that he wanted to see..but you see the baby is definitely a BRANT!! It was still in a very awkward position for viewing what he wanted to look at. So we had to leave and go for  a 15min walk. Holly, Doug and I walked to the hospital..went to the Tim Horton's and grabbed a drink. I had a small chocolate milk to hopefully jump start Baby B into moving a bit for the doctor..we walked back and went back in again.

Baby B had moved a bit..but not as much as what he wanted..he wanted to have one more go at it..so off we went for yet another walk. This time we walked around the parking lot..where we ran into other couples that were also walking. As we got back again more couples were being sent out to walk. There had to be about 8 couples sent to walk and come back a couple times alone. Our final time we went and waited in the room with the coloured eggs and back into the room with the machine again. We got a view of the heart. No new pictures tho..they were all blurry. Our last one had better details so I opted not to pay money for one again this time.

Baby b seems to be doing well according to the doctor..the estimate of the weight is 2 pounds 1 ounce. Which is a way normal average weight for the time of our pregnancy according to the doctor.  This was important to Doug..as my brother Josh and Doug had made a bet about the weight of the baby..lucky for me..neither of them won.

There seems to be lots of sickness going around lately..so I asked what I was allowed to take. I was not aware that you can take most tylenol products..like tylenol cold when you are pregnant..which is a great relief since it is hard to get better when you are sick and not allowed to take much. Next week I get to do my blood sugar test again. I did one at the beginning of my pregnancy due to all of what I was taking before. Now I am just doing another one...at the normal time in pregnancy.

Hard to believe that in a couple weeks from tomorrow...I will be done my 2nd trimester and starting my 3rd. Time sure is flying by. Every time the doctor would press harder on my stomach today..Baby B would hit upwards at the Doppler..was hilarious. Even looked like it was picking its nose at one point.

I go again at the end of October. We picked up forms to register at the hospital and to make an app to have a tour of the maternity ward of the hospital. We start our Prenatal course in November in Glow's studio downtown. Soon we will be counting down days not weeks.

Tomorrow I go to my brother's Finance Jen's Baby shower to give her all the baby gear goodies we got her and the twin boys. Should be a fun event.  It is crazy...we could be going to one of mine sometime soon. Holly is doing her's for me after the baby is born..get all of our gender specific stuff then. Since it is eating away at all of our relatives what Baby B really is. Makes life exciting!!!

My Lovely Baby Bump..

So I figured I should actually start taking some baby bump pics....since I am finally starting to look like I am prego..depending on what I am wearing that is..works really well with sexy maternity jeans from Thyme Maternity. So as of this past Sat Sept 10th.2011 I am 23 weeks pregnant!!!! Here are some shots we tried today and cropped ofcourse for a little view..as Baby B and I grow..I will try to post more shots.

 

So there you have it..3 new baby bump pics from week 23. I feel I do not really show that much..however I have only gained 3 poundsish in total and lost like 10 in the begining so not too shabby. My baby is over a pound already...so basically I am just Baby B!!!

From our past ultrasound picture..Doug and I think that Baby B has the cutest lips ever. Probably due to we could only get a partial face photo shot due to the head being under my belly button and the postition Baby B is in at the current time. So we thought it would be fun and hilarious to take a picture of our best kissy faces to let you decide whose lips Baby B's looks most like..feel free to comment and post about our fun pictures..we look forward to hearing the comments.

Another exciting thing I have to tell you is....I have been finally feeling Baby B more often. For awhile it was random..just when I was super busy at work..or a little at night..but not consistant. As of Friday evening, it starting as I was leaning forward on the couch doing something. I believe it is hiccups I am feeling..Doug likes to joke it is gas. It happened some more for about a half hour before I was going to sleep and randomly again when we went out for some chinese food this afternoon for lunch. It is quite a neat feeling..not so much a kick or jab..more of a hiccup or summersault. Makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Now only if I could get Doug to experience it with me..he might just have to wait for a bit. 

Doug and myself are starting to work on the wall patchups for the babies room..and we bought some furniture paint for the rocking chair..which Doug has applied one coat already. Will have pictures to come in the next couple weeks and months of room progress ect.
