Life's Growing Miracles

Growing our hope, love and faith...one day of a time ofcourse...

It has been quite awhile since I have written a blog entry. To tell you the truth I have been terrified to write one. I did not want to tell everyone our good news and then possibly have it taken all away. It was hard enough last year when we got pregnant last year and had it taken away from us so quickly. My last IUI was done on April 15th....my last cycle day was on April 2nd, 2011. In March my time for cycling was shortened due to low dosage aspirin. This last IUI month, I was on a new drug called Femara. It seemed to shorten things for us as well. So the weekend we were doing Doug’s 30th Bday party..I believe it was April 30th/May1st..I had some small amounts of implantation bleeding but nothing I was really thinking hard about. So just to be safe on the Tuesday I went in for some blood work to do a blood pregnancy test. I went into the doctor to let the receptionist know we needed to know the results either way. For if it was a negative result we still needed to know for different drugs to take and not to take and to set up our next IUI procedure. I also asked her to ask the doctor some questions about some things. I am taking so many things at the time I needed some clarification for times ect. She informed us that the doctor would be leaving the next day for 3 weeks out of the country. So basically if we needed the next IUI done..we had to skip that month completely.

A day or 2 later the receptionist phoned us around lunch time and let us know that we are indeed pregnant and she was very excited to let us know. She also asked the doctor the info I needed to know and booked an appointment with us to have a earlier appointment once the doctor was back to check out the pregnancy. We assumed that we would have to be seeing him a little bit more than most people considering that our case is a little different.

For the next following weeks I was going in to get blood work done for my levels. Just to make sure everything was going up properly. I am now taking my Progesterone suppositories until I am finished my 10th week. I also have to take low dosage aspirin until my 28th week is done. Our appointment was booked to see the doctor once he was back in the country. Since you know it seems to be every time we seem to have to do something important he is on holidays and such. I also had my RMT come over once a week to remain calm and relaxed in the meantime while we were waiting the weeks to see the doctor. A nice relaxing massage can go along way when you are stressed and pregnant..sore from work ect.

The week before I ended up getting a bladder infection. We sat 3 1/2 hrs in the Fast tracks clinic on a Thursday night..just to find out I was right about what I had. I was given a antibiotic that I had to take every 6 hours. I was to wake myself up at 12am every night to take a pill. I do not think that I have ever had a bladder infection before now.

We went into see the doctor when we were 7weeks 6 days..Friday May 27th. We had to wait 2 hours a bit...due to backlog from him being away so long. So I asked the receptionist whether she had any more blood work I needed to get done when I went to get my levels done again.  I also had to get my urine tested again to make sure my UTI was all gone. I have never had a bladder infection before...so it was a very interesting ordeal. I went and got the blood work done..which took 3 holes in my arm due to I was dehydrated and they always have trouble with my veins. I then went back upstairs to wait with everyone else. He was so backed up when we first got there..there was a girl leaving from an appointment that was originally scheduled for 10:45am. He had been called out for an emergency c-section. We went and got some water so I made sure I could pee later for the dip test they do on your urine.  After I ended up drinking all of that I went and got the cup for that earlier..due to I had to pee like every 20 mins. Drinking 3 bottles of water before waiting that long is a bad idea. But under the circumstances very much needed. I ended up peeing right before I went to be weighed...I did not want to pee on the doctor seeing as I knew he would be doing an internal ultrasound.

When we finally got in 2 hours later...we got weighed..and the doctor was very pleased with the progress. Our estimated due date is January 7th,2012. He was very happy with the size and growth and we even got to see the heartbeat with the internal ultrasound. It hurt a lot to have an internal done..I was kinda worried about the whole thing due to I have had some spotting on a off due to different reasons. The doctor answered most of our questions and does not want to see us until June 30th for our first large prenatal appointment. When we go see him at the end of this month..I will be 12 weeks 5 days. So another week after that I will starting my 2nd trimester!!!

This is such a huge accomplishment for us. We have never made it this far before. I think we will both feel better after the 3 months are done. We have been blessed with an angel. Work has known for a little bit...well mine has...more for support and to make sure I am not overdoing my lifting and such. I am guessing a lot of you had caught on awhile ago..but to be honest...we have waited this long..you can wait a month or two for the updates lol.

We saw the heartbeat..and hopefully all keeps going well..and my week 12 5days ...almost 13 we will hear the heartbeat. I will be sure to write again once I have the next appointment. As of today my posting day I am starting my 11th week. A little less worried and becoming more confident that we will be staying pregnant and that everything will be just fine..fingers crossed of course. I will be sure to post again after our 12/13 wk appointment..I might even have a picture to show you all of our ultrasound...but until then only my blog fans will know. Please no posting on fb as I do not want everyone knowing until we know everything is for sure ok. If you want to comment message me privately or comment on my blog entry. Thanks for all the support and I hope you are as excited and surprised as we are.

We got to see the heart beat...next time we get to heart it hopefully!!!

  1. Congratulations and best of luck! I am so happy for you and your husband! I never had a UTI before pregnancy and with both of my pregnancies I had them every other week. I had gestational diabetes and the excess sugar in my urine caused them to keep coming. How annoying they were! I heard once you've seen a strong heart beat the risk of miscarriage goes down to just 5% and once you're into your second trimester it goes down to just 1%. Those are great odds! Enjoy your pregnancy as it goes by so fast!

  3. We are very happy and excited for both you and Doug, it is going to be a wonderful and busy time in your lives. When you meet your soulmate, you think what a wonderful life and this is what love is all about, but when you create a new life and hold your baby, you have a love to give which you think you could never imagined. Love to all of you. Many Blessings!

  4. Cassie...tears are streaming down my face right now! I am so excited for you. I have to admit, whether you believe it or not, I kinda had a feeling that this IUI took. Gramma Brant told me in a dream the other night that there was a baby on the way. So, let Doug know she's watching over all three of you. Lots and lots of love to you and stay relaxed...call if you need anything...congratulations my girl!
