I, I love you like a love song, baby
Here we are already at our next appointment posting. Today I am 16 weeks 3 days pregnant...165 days left to go!!! In another week and 3 days I will be done my 4th month and starting my 5th!
"No one compares
You stand alone, to every record I own
Music to my heart that's what you are
A song that goes on and on"
Each time we find out more info about our growing little bundle of joy. At this appointment we finally got to hear the heartbeat....whoosh whoosh whoosh!!! It was a nice feeling. I think I feel more at ease. My blood pressure seems to be really good at each appointment. The heartbeat was at 140..which is pretty normal and borderline of what the baby could be. Doug and I have decided we are pretty sure we are not going to find out what the sex is..we have waited 3 years to get this far what is another couple of months in the grand sceam of things. We would be happy either way. Just might have to put the baby in some very neutral clothing options for the first little bit. I believe one of my besties/aunt holla will be holding a shower for me after the baby is born..so we will get some gender specific things then.
We go back in 5 weeks August 31st. At this point I will be almost done my 5th month and soon starting my 6th. I will be a week and a couple of days before finishing my 5th month. He said he will be taking a very long and detailed look at the baby to see what is all going on etc. I am hoping we get some better pics by then. I was kinda hoping to see how the baby had grown since last time..but I know for your safety and the baby's they do not like to do too many of them. So we wait to see our little miracle again next time. All of my blood work seems to be okay according to the doc. I also re-found out that my blood type is O+..so that is good to know.
I am hoping I am showing some by then. We have not started measure me at all yet. I am thinking it is going to take me a while to start to show as for I am not the smallest in the weight category for my height. However I am hovering around the same weight point up and down..the last app I lost some weight and I am only up 2 pounds. So I might get really lucky and only gain baby weight..which would be great considering I will have to try and lose whatever more I gain later on. My theory is it has alot of weight/fat stored up that it can take from already. I am not eating like crazy or getting cravings really yet. Most of the time I do not really feel hungry...I start to and then do not really eat all of what I had. I get this you are done feeling from the baby. I eat a big meal at dinner and small snack meals throughout the day at work..for I mostly get 15 min breaks. I drink lots of water and have a regular breakfast. I have to watch my sugar levels anyway..so this all works out for me.
I might feel more prego..once i start to round a bit and show. It does not have to be alot..just enough where people stop wondering why I am shopping in the baby sections and are dumbfounded when I say I am due in January. Funny how appearance is everything. Works out for wearing clothing a bit longer..for I will eventually have to get some maternity pieces. One of them I dread..a big winter coat for the last few months.
I would be taking pics of myself for you starting this week..but if you have seen my lately..i just look like I have lost some weight and I am not more rounded than I already was. So soon enough I will post some pics of my growing belly and the miracle that is inside of me. Each day we feel so gifted that we have made it this far and can not wait to eventually meet the precious life we are nurturing inside.
140 beats per min...ahhhhh!

Here I am..Baby!
Today I am writing to you...announcing that I am 12 weeks 5 days pregnant.
We had our first official ultrasound and checkup today. Our appointment was supposed to be at 8:45..we walked in the same time that the secretary was coming into the building..we got to come in the door as she just turned the lights on. We did not get into the room until a little after 10am. The room was filling up quite nicely and the doctor was still nowhere insight. It is extremely ironic that we are the first app of the day and the doctor is already running late. After I was weighed and put in the room..we waited another 10 mins until the doctor arrived.
We did not really know what to expect. Sooo we were asked a bunch of regular medical questions that are protocol in the situation we are in. Then we asked him a bit of info and got to see the baby using a doppler for the very first time. We did not get to hear the hearbeat however..I am really not quite sure why...but anyways..hopefully next time. We got to see the baby...it was interesting tho..it was upside down...head at one end facing downwards and the feet at the other. We are hoping to get better pics next time.
After we got our pic and got our millions of sheets for bloodwork requisitions..we made our way to the lab downstairs. I had to get a glucose drink test done...seeing as I was on 3 metformin a day for my PCOS before I got pregnant..he wanted to take the proper precautions early on in the game..to make sure everything is alright. I handed in the sheets and did my urine sample to check and see if I have another bladder infection. I had to drink this solution that looked and tasted like that orange MacDonalds drink they used to give us as kids..but it was not fizzy at all..kinda made your throat feel all tingly. I had to sit for an hour and then get bloodwork done directly after. I had 5 viles of blood taken. My arm actually kinda hurts today after that. I asked for one of the ladies specifically since the last time I got bloodwork done I ended up coming out of there with 3 holes in my arm for one vile of blood.
We ended up leaving the alexander building after 11am..we definitely got our parking money's worth consider we were there at around 8:35am.
After that we went home to meet holly..let our fellow fb friends know and went off to get some groceries..my work schedule next week and show some ppl at work the new pic.
My next app is in 4 weeks. I will be in my 16th week..so look forward to hearing another update around July 27th. We are now starting to feel like this is more real and exciting..If I do not hear the heartbeat next time..I might be a little mad at the doctor. I will make sure to post a new pic if we get a better look at our little one and maybe even some belly pics.
So far the doctor is really happy about the size and how everything is looking..we hope to have more info next time aswell. Our journey is becoming a heartbeat closer every day!
Here is a pic of our baby to be..it is an acrobat already and being stubborn about getting its picture taken like my husband Doug!!!

Life's Growing Miracles
Growing our hope, love and faith...one day of a time ofcourse...
It has been quite awhile since I have written a blog entry. To tell you the truth I have been terrified to write one. I did not want to tell everyone our good news and then possibly have it taken all away. It was hard enough last year when we got pregnant last year and had it taken away from us so quickly. My last IUI was done on April 15th....my last cycle day was on April 2nd, 2011. In March my time for cycling was shortened due to low dosage aspirin. This last IUI month, I was on a new drug called Femara. It seemed to shorten things for us as well. So the weekend we were doing Doug’s 30th Bday party..I believe it was April 30th/May1st..I had some small amounts of implantation bleeding but nothing I was really thinking hard about. So just to be safe on the Tuesday I went in for some blood work to do a blood pregnancy test. I went into the doctor to let the receptionist know we needed to know the results either way. For if it was a negative result we still needed to know for different drugs to take and not to take and to set up our next IUI procedure. I also asked her to ask the doctor some questions about some things. I am taking so many things at the time I needed some clarification for times ect. She informed us that the doctor would be leaving the next day for 3 weeks out of the country. So basically if we needed the next IUI done..we had to skip that month completely.
A day or 2 later the receptionist phoned us around lunch time and let us know that we are indeed pregnant and she was very excited to let us know. She also asked the doctor the info I needed to know and booked an appointment with us to have a earlier appointment once the doctor was back to check out the pregnancy. We assumed that we would have to be seeing him a little bit more than most people considering that our case is a little different.
For the next following weeks I was going in to get blood work done for my levels. Just to make sure everything was going up properly. I am now taking my Progesterone suppositories until I am finished my 10th week. I also have to take low dosage aspirin until my 28th week is done. Our appointment was booked to see the doctor once he was back in the country. Since you know it seems to be every time we seem to have to do something important he is on holidays and such. I also had my RMT come over once a week to remain calm and relaxed in the meantime while we were waiting the weeks to see the doctor. A nice relaxing massage can go along way when you are stressed and pregnant..sore from work ect.
The week before I ended up getting a bladder infection. We sat 3 1/2 hrs in the Fast tracks clinic on a Thursday night..just to find out I was right about what I had. I was given a antibiotic that I had to take every 6 hours. I was to wake myself up at 12am every night to take a pill. I do not think that I have ever had a bladder infection before now.
We went into see the doctor when we were 7weeks 6 days..Friday May 27th. We had to wait 2 hours a bit...due to backlog from him being away so long. So I asked the receptionist whether she had any more blood work I needed to get done when I went to get my levels done again. I also had to get my urine tested again to make sure my UTI was all gone. I have never had a bladder infection before...so it was a very interesting ordeal. I went and got the blood work done..which took 3 holes in my arm due to I was dehydrated and they always have trouble with my veins. I then went back upstairs to wait with everyone else. He was so backed up when we first got there..there was a girl leaving from an appointment that was originally scheduled for 10:45am. He had been called out for an emergency c-section. We went and got some water so I made sure I could pee later for the dip test they do on your urine. After I ended up drinking all of that I went and got the cup for that earlier..due to I had to pee like every 20 mins. Drinking 3 bottles of water before waiting that long is a bad idea. But under the circumstances very much needed. I ended up peeing right before I went to be weighed...I did not want to pee on the doctor seeing as I knew he would be doing an internal ultrasound.
When we finally got in 2 hours later...we got weighed..and the doctor was very pleased with the progress. Our estimated due date is January 7th,2012. He was very happy with the size and growth and we even got to see the heartbeat with the internal ultrasound. It hurt a lot to have an internal done..I was kinda worried about the whole thing due to I have had some spotting on a off due to different reasons. The doctor answered most of our questions and does not want to see us until June 30th for our first large prenatal appointment. When we go see him at the end of this month..I will be 12 weeks 5 days. So another week after that I will starting my 2nd trimester!!!
This is such a huge accomplishment for us. We have never made it this far before. I think we will both feel better after the 3 months are done. We have been blessed with an angel. Work has known for a little bit...well mine has...more for support and to make sure I am not overdoing my lifting and such. I am guessing a lot of you had caught on awhile ago..but to be honest...we have waited this long..you can wait a month or two for the updates lol.
We saw the heartbeat..and hopefully all keeps going well..and my week 12 5days ...almost 13 we will hear the heartbeat. I will be sure to write again once I have the next appointment. As of today my posting day I am starting my 11th week. A little less worried and becoming more confident that we will be staying pregnant and that everything will be just fine..fingers crossed of course. I will be sure to post again after our 12/13 wk appointment..I might even have a picture to show you all of our ultrasound...but until then only my blog fans will know. Please no posting on fb as I do not want everyone knowing until we know everything is for sure ok. If you want to comment message me privately or comment on my blog entry. Thanks for all the support and I hope you are as excited and surprised as we are.
We got to see the heart beat...next time we get to heart it hopefully!!!

IUI and the 2WW
Today we went in for our 3rd IUI. Our app time was at 11:30pm. We made sure we were there to drop off seamen sample and swipe my healthcard for 11:20pm. We did not get in for about 45 mins after that I would say. Good thing we came early..as they were still behind yet again for this week. We are getting so used to waiting long periods of time we do not really come that early as its not worth it.
The room had to be completely filled. Things seemed to move pretty quickly considering. I think we always seem to get someone a little angry with us as for our procedure is timed and who knows how long some of them have been waiting to see the doctor.
When the room without the ultrasound machines became available we were told it was ok to come in and get ready. Now I swear every time I go in there...things seem to go a little differently. This time I did not have to cough..but it did take the doctor a couple times of pulling the catheter tube in and out to get it in the right spot that he wanted it in..before proceeding with the procedure. I am just glad I did not feel as much cramping this time with my uterus. Doug got to hold on to the catheter while the doctor inserted the warmed duck lips and cranked it open..have to admit..it is a sound that really grosses me out. I think I tend to make funny faces during each IUI aswell..the whole experience is interesting to say the least.
The doctor seemed to think he got it in just the right spot after all the figiting and said he feels good about this month. So we now get to wait for 2 weeks..we paid the secretary and were on our way. I had a friend comment on fb about it seemed fitting to be dealing with eggs around easter. As for now..like my rmt would say its out of my hands...we are "Giving it to God". Or putting it in a bubble and blowing it away. Makes things easier. Atleast today I have a couple of hours before I head into work..i plan on not doing too much heavy lifting..do not want to effect any progress in the right direction.
Today we were in the room with the coloured eggs again..another good sign.

Patience is a virtue that gives you eggs!
Today we went in for another ultrasound to see if our ovulation was any further along to do the IUI procedure. After waited 2 hours past our appointment time...we got in the room at 6:15. Our app was supposed to be at 4:30. We are getting used to waiting for long periods of time. We were the last couple to get into a room and leave.
I have been thinking fertile thoughts all week. Hoping that the reflexology had helped and that we could get the procedure done before the weekend. After waiting for such a long time...we finally got in the room and waited for the doctor again.
He informed us that tomorrow is the big day! I asked about the follicles..(aka. How many? etc). He said there is one VERY LARGE follicle that is ready to go. I had brought the injection with us and asked if he could give it to me. He replied back " That is the best offer I have had all day, of course I will stick you". He gladly gave me the injection and we were on our way. The secretary who is like a close friend whom we visit so frequently gave us an appointment for tomorrow morning at 11:30..gave us a specimen cup and we were on our way. The doctor was sure to tell Doug to make sure he brought his friends with him..as they are needed.
We are very excited about this month. We have a whole new drug we are trying..we are hoping everything takes and works together. This is a new month of being on aspirin..femara..and everything seems to be going alot more smoothly. We even managed to get the doctor to give us our injection and I did not have to fight with work for appointments. If all goes well tomorrow we could be looking at a baby in 2012. Here is hoping...we went from not having anything ready at one point this week..to hearing things look good and are a go for tomorrow the next app.

Growth and Time
Here we are in another month...a new month..a new look on our whole journey. Things seem to always take some growth and time...patience if you will.
Doug and I went in for our first ultrasound today to see where we are at with the growth of new follicles. In other words to see where my eggs were at in their stage of growth and how close we are to ovulating on our new Drug.
This past week was very interesting. From Weds-Sun I was taking the new fertility drug Femara. I was nervous on the side effects I would be experiencing on them. I did however experience some side effects. For the past 7 days I have had some very restless nights..insomnia if you will..tossing all night..waking up all night long and very odd dreams. I also had the joy of experiencing very odd sharp stomach pain...joint aches and very sharp headaches. I am glad needless to say those are the only ones I had to endure. I do however prefer it over the other one I was on..and I believe so does my husband. He does not miss the hot flashes (nor do I)..and the very large amounts of mood swings.
I was kinda hoping that the appointment would happen tomorrow for the IUI..but things do not seem to go the way they wish they would. Which I mean is a good thing also..I forgot to bring my injection with me. So we go back on this Thursday for another ultrasound. The doctor is hoping that things are ready then..so we can do the IUI on Friday...if not we may have to do a special IUI on the weekend with the doctor. This could mean rearranging work...or hopefully getting it done on Friday or early Sat morning. All in all..no worries..what will be will be.
Sometimes things just need a little more time to grow and be nourished and develop into something special..like new spring flowers...or possibly a new growth to become a baby!!

After the Storm- No Rain Boots Required
After the Storm- Mumford and Sons
"And there will come a time, you'll see, with no more tears.
And love will not break your heart, but dismiss your fears.
Get over your hill and see what you find there,
With grace in your heart and flowers in your hair."
April is the start of a new cycle...a new month to look forward to. For this month we start a new Fertility drug called Femara. It is an interesting change..but hopefully a good one. It is supposed to have less side effects..works with my estrogen levels and does not thin my uterine lining like clomide does. Along side we are also taking low dosage aspirin. Today we booked our first app for Tueday April 12th at 3pm. It is just a baseline ultrasound appointment...but its a new start. I feel we are on the other side of this one hill we kept climbing for such a long time. Maybe...just maybe..this is the drug that helps aid us on our journey of infertility. I will have to book off availability for work..which will make things alot easier for us. Hopefully this month will be as fast at the first months. The one ovary that we will be using this time..was very quick when we started doing the IUI's. We went in for one ultrasound and then the next day did the procedure...the second month was a little more difficult..alot more monitoring.
This Weds-Sun I will be taking my new fertilty drug. Let's hope it is a very smooth and low side effect cycle. It is always an interesting thing to be adding another drug to my cocktail of fertility aids. I sometimes feel like an old lady with my little pill container and my handful of drugs that I take daily.
This morning we went to Shoppers. Things are so much smoother there. I was expecting a 4 day wait for our injection of Ovidrel..but when I went and asked for the next refill, I was informed that I am early enough that it should be in tomorrow afternoon to be picked up. Walmart's Pharmacy decided to give us more trouble this month. I am slowly losing my patience with the staff there and the lack of service. I ordered my two prescriptions on Sat...knowing that they would have to order them in. Doug and I came in today to get them and they still had not applied the order...this was at 2pm..So we waited an hour...which the lady had told me they would be ready by then..got some easter shopping done for our niece and nephew. We came back the hour later to ask about the prescriptions again. They still had not even looked at my order at all. I let the girl know this is not her fault..but I am really not impressed with this pharmacy and we have had trouble with everything we have put in here..and that I need these drugs before wednesday! We had to come back to walmart later on this evening..my roomate was selling her wii system on kijiji and meeting something at walmart for the sale..so I decided to go and check on the prescription again. They had my one for my lining ready..but not the femara. Since this was a different lady in which I was speaking to I told her what had happened earlier..said I am not leaving without my perscription and I would like her to look into it for me. I said I need it before Wednesday and that this has been happening alot. She went to talk to the on pharmacist for me and he was going to get it put through for me...we were told to wait 10-15 mins and he would have it done for me. After waiting again..we got the meds.. talked to the pharmicist and were on our way.
Sometimes I believe God sends you funny little signs. I can not buy or find rainboots to save my life. My calves are too big..is one of the problems. But maybe just maybe...its a sign that the storm may be passing in our lives..in our path of infertility. I feel like I need them just to be safe..incase it rains and I have to walk to work. Could it maybe just mean we are on our way out of the storm...into nicer weather..heading down the hill..instead of the continous hard climb. Spring brings hope..flowers blooming..bird singing..perhaps hopes and grace in your soul...fears being washed away and a clear path to follow..no rainboots required.
So here we are starting a new cycle..new set of fertility drugs..new set of appointments...after the storm without wearing our rainboots!
