36 Weeks Day 5 Appointment

Hey Y'all
So today we were back in Peterborough to see the specialist..who we love! He actually did a scan today...believes this sweet child of mine is roughly 8lbs. Hilarious right! The biggest baby I have had was O and he was 7.7!

I will believe it when I see her...and the weight check that is. Not worried at all..still looks healthy and this mama is doing what she can by all the instructions given from a million different directions. So far my numbers for sugars are consistent and not scary but being managed the best way I know how through diet planning and exercise..carb counting is the worst..but ya do what ya gotta do for the baby right!!!

I also had the pleasure of doing the swab today...so fun..I continue to wear pads...ew and lose lots of fluids like I am peeing my pants....if you have never had that happen during pregnancy...consider it a blessing...still no contractions. If we surpass tomorrow and Friday we are onto the next bidder on the calendar..surprised no one picked Saturday as the date..anyone else want in on the money lol jk.

I also saw the dietician and diabetes center in Peterborough at 1pm. I talked to a nurse and a new dietician about what my case is...gave them the downlo....how far I am...what my numbers are...where my pregnancy is at..including losing things which makes a difference on timing..what I have been doing to control my sugars and exercise. All in all..in the end..as long as everyone is happy and healthy all that matters.

As of right now...especially since we are seriously in the home stretch we are not going to be going on insulin..but still managing the same way and I was given a new sugar meter since mine is like 20% out....good times. So more in range than we thought. They decided to ask Maskens and called me after we were home again to let me know I am good for now to stay off long lasting insulin..but I may have to have some during labor if my sugars are too high or juice or a Popsicle if they are low during labor...balancing act if you will. Also if the baby is a certain weight being higher it may need to be sugar monitored a bit longer if not responding to formula and sugar water etc.

So here is where we are at. NO insulin..for now thank goodness..keep exercising and eating the followed carb amounts at meals and snacks. A must to have a snack at night to help fasting sugar number in the morning. I am coming back to Maskens next Wednesday..if we make it there..haha...and he will be following me for the remainder of the pregnancy in Peterborough. He also may be delivering if he is the one on call..if not I get the other specialist...on rotation. My bag is packed and its only a hour drive right??? We can make it there....totally..just have to leave earlier haha...

Now I get to call and cancel my registration interview with Cobourg hospital for next week. My BMI would not meet the criteria anymore and no NICCU!

Those are the details..keeping you posted..Baby #4 could be here any day now..who knows we could even have her on Mothers Day! xoxo

This past Saturday May 30 marked 36 weeks! the previous week on the Wednesday we had a appointment in Peterborough with the specialist. We are now to go back again this Wednesday May 4th. I also now have a appointment booked in with the diabetic clinic at the Peterborough hospital to see if I should go on Insulin for the remainder of the pregnancy

. I may not even make it till that point. Saturday May 7th marks 37 weeks. When I had gestational diabetes with O I had him the day after I switched into my 37th week. My water actually broke on its own in that pregnancy.

I am already starting to I believe lose what they call the plug. Which I did for a couple of days with E but that was a couple days before 2 weeks to go. 37 weeks is considered full term for delivery. Some ppl can lose the "plug" for weeks. Doug figure every time I cough or sneeze we are one are closer to him winning the betting pool. It would have to be Thurs or Friday for him to win. If I deliver Sat or Sunday Our old neighbor in Peterborough Pierre Wins.

I would prefer to not go until after 37 weeks. I will be asking to be checked weds unless I go into labor before then. We shall see what appointments I make it to. I can still deliver in cobourg if I have to and have no time and have not met the Bmi again or am on insulin. If not I am registered at both hospitals and will be headed to Peterborough.

We shall keep you all posted! Time is flying. Closer until we meet our newest edition.

35 Weeks and Counting!

A lot has gone down in the past couple of weeks. My DH has gone to India for 2 weeks and back. In the mean time while he was away I had to start Carb Counting..JOYS! No Pressure or stress at all right?

I have to be followed by a dietician to get my sugar levels checked and regulated to not go on insulin..I am considered borderline gestational diabetic. So While he was away..I was allowed and still am following the rule of only having well balanced meals with more protein and fiber..lots of veggies and only a carb count of 30-45g per meal and 20-30 for a snack. The first week went super great..its not a easy thing to try and follow..limiting carbs and counting everything. I also have to make sure I am getting extra exercise in after meals to help reduce sugar levels..which now I am finding with my over night fasting number..does not really make a huge difference.

The second week my whole family got the flu..including my mom who was staying with us. IT was honestly awful. Doug was lucky enough that he did not seem to get it when he came back. My numbers for sugars are getting down to where they want them to be. Most of the day is usually bang on target..my morning number was finally down in the 5's for the week I was sick and just after..but usually likes to hover around 6 in the am. So far I have not had to go on Insulin..the doctor and dietician are happy. If I get put on insulin it is a automatic delivery in Peterborough. My weight has been dropping off since on the carb watch..I am down 3 or possibly a lot more since the baby is still gaining weight.

After Doug came back we went in for another appointment and weight ultrasound at Cobourg's Hospital. The doctor who did the scan estimated that she is already 7 pounds roughly. I remember them saying they thought O was going to be like 9-10lbs and he came the day after I switched to 37 weeks. He only weighed 7.7lbs. I am in my 35 week and feel I only have 2 1/2 to 3 weeks left. I am only so tall and run out of room...then I swear they hit the eject button. I have been getting braxton hicks on and off for a couple weeks randomly...great feeling.

This week we are off to see the Specialist in Peterborough Dr.Maskins..just to make sure he thinks we are all in the clear to deliver in Cobourg or if we should continue care up there with him and deliver in Peterborough. If I keep my levels down and weight Cobourg can deliver if we are not too early. I have packed most of my bag already just to be ready to go! Doug thinks that this baby will be here sooner than later. I have registered part way with Cobourg..They have this funny interview where you do all the paper work and see the delivery area etc..we however are not booked in until the 11th of May. I feel we will be going in to have the baby the same day. I would be surprised if we make it. Peterboroughs form I have filled out but not handed in yet. I feel we will bring it and hand it in after our specialist apt if he says we should be up there instead.

The bassinet is washed and set up. The Bag is almost packed. We have bought some NB diapers again..and most of all the newborn and 0-3month clothes are already washed as well as the carseat, bouncy chair and swing seat. I feel we are more prepared than before..now if only I can narrow down the names better and get these sugar numbers handled.

We will keep you posted on what is happening. Wednesday should be interesting. Who knows maybe it will be a mothers day we never forget. Daddy has picked the 5th...which is before 37 weeks hits.  The next runner up is Pierre our old neighbor in Pdot..The Calendar is up and visible for the betting pool! love to all..xoxo

Beginning to look like Spring

Hey Y'all
I have not posted a lot on here lately. Hard to believe I will be 31 weeks tomorrow with our 4th Baby..E is now 4 years 3 months..O is over 2 1/2 and K is going to be 14 1/2 months old...CRAZY!

Miss E:
She is doing great..besides a cough that lingers from a cold. Her speech is getting better, trying new foods. She loves school..cries about snow days..believes she has a boyfriend. Is becoming more out going

Motherhood is a fun roller coaster..where one minute your 1st born is telling you to check out her poop shaped like a crescent moon and asking me if I am proud of her...then informing me next time she aims to make a star shaped poop..OH DEAR!

This same week I have been asked to pick out a crown to wear. When one crown is picked then I am told that is not the right one..that is a boys crown and I need to wear the opposite crown I picked out to wear. I wonder why sometimes I was given the choice.

We love our brothers sometimes too much especially K. They are always horsing around with each other. She is an amazing artist and beginning to tell us what they are meaning. Every day is something new.

Captain O:

My teething 2 1/2 year old. We believe we are getting molars in. Sometimes now biting..bringing his buddies everywhere he goes at home. Very cuddly with we all enjoy..but are a wee bit tired of the early wake ups and fighting bedtime routine.

We are over tired..causing O to be more aggressive. We love O to bits...but the hitting and anger from lack of emotional outlet/expression needs to be worked on. We are always talking about feelings and what all of our body parts are for and not for...like hitting or kicking/head butting. We are doing very well with speech..but for someone his age to say he is mad etc just does not happen. We can not put the pieces together quite yet.

Most of the time K and O are great playing together. Sometimes a little too great..they love to get into trouble together..for example..Tupperware or diapers all over the floor..clothes pulled from drawers...you need something dumped..I have two guys I know that will probably work for cookies.

Is it just me or do boys talk about their penis all the time. Its a common word around here with our O. Also we are singing and so happy a lot of the time. Big on super heros, dress up and naming things.

The other night we had to get monsters out of his room for the first time ever. Dad can be pretty bad ass when it comes to removing monsters and making sure the room is sleep safe. Gotta love it..

Sir K:
Explorer Extraordinaire, Parrot of learning new words, trouble..possibly his new motive and name.

We are constantly curious and into things we should not be. Just the other day we were back in my shower..let in by his partner in crime..to my shower..where we had bottles down and came out with Irish Springs in his hand in which he had been chewing on..I swear this kid will eat anything can. Teething helps this hobby of everything being edible.  I guess washing his mouth out as a possible punishment down the road is void..we like the taste. Food goodness sakes we will eat soap willingly but have texture issues with foods we should be eating...fun times.

We are always biting! Unfortunately K thinks it is hilarious. We are a dumper at heart..totally a boy thing. I am still trying to switch him to just afternoon nap. This is always depending on how early we are awake. A daddy's boy at heart..as soon as daddy is done work K is all over him. I see jealousy happening in the near future.

We keep trying new foods, We still prefer liquid over solids. Milk is number 1. Only on Homo now. He is a grazer and snack stealer at heart. The boy still probably is just maybe 20lb we have not weighed him since his 1 year where he was 18lbs. I have some size 12 month pants that fit him but a lot of what he is in is still 6-12 month pants or 6-12 or 9-12 month onesies. The boy is constantly moving and burns off whatever he eats. He practically runs around the house. Falls and Bruises are just a story of an adventure with our boys. I feel sometimes they need helmets on at all times.

This weekend is Easter...we bought them all bikes from my DH and myself..so excited to get into spring and warmer weather. After the Ice Storm we just had..we need some nicer weather.
Much love to all..xoxo The Brants

30 Weeks have gone by!

A couple of weeks ago we had our gender party! We announced we are having a baby girl!!!! We are soooo excited to share our big news and our other children are thrilled to be having a little sister soon..especially Miss E! We are very thankful and blessed to have so many ppl who celebrated with us...if you did not make it out..we missed you.

This past week on Wednesday I went for another prenatal appointment..the last couple I have been jumping a couple pounds since We are down in the home stretch and going every 2 weeks. My blood pressure is finally getting lower again..may not stay there for long..but we shall see.

The baby seems to be doing great..moving lots...great heartbeat..but then again here comes the time where I needed to go once again for a sugar test. I did one earlier that came back great where I was in the clear. I went this past Wednesday just to make sure everything was still good since I have had gestational with my 2nd out of 5 pregnancies...can never be too careful as they like to tell me.

When they checked my urine sample..as they do each time you are there for protein, sugar levels etc..it showed traces of sugar..so I had to do a finger prick..which had me at 8.9....a little high..the doctor, nurses and myself thought it was just due to me just getting blood done for the sugar test minutes before I came to the doctors..drinking the glucose drink that we all enjoy (LOL) not even a hour before my appointment at the doctors office.

My weight had also now jumped to 232/33 lbs so I had to ask the doctor what my magical bmi/weight number was when I can no longer deliver in Cobourg Hospital. I now am at the point where I am only allowed to gain 3lbs before I am not able to deliver in Cobourg due to the weight/bmi restriction..due to no NICU and Anesthesia rules..making more complications possible. Which means I will be transferred to Peterborough and probably our Doctor who helped us start our family the specialist in the are Maskens.

Today I go a call..doctor had called me peronally..never really gives you a good feeling...especially on a holiday. My results came in and my sugar test was at a 9 something. So now on Monday I go back in to do the 2 hr sugar test...if it comes back good I am ok...but still may be transferred due to my weight number..if its high I may have gestational again and be back on insulin if they can not correct my levels with seeing a dietician. Either way the care will be in the hands of doctors in Peterborough. Lets hope in the end we do not have the baby on the way to the hospital..being a hour drive and all. If I get the green on gestational I have to have another scan to check on the growth of our baby girl. I measured at 32 wks when I just turn 31 weeks tomorrow..when she measured my stomach lying down with the measure tape for growth. It may explain my weight gain and measurements if the sugar is not processing properly.

Its not often they tell you that you can not deliver somewhere..or to diet..maintain or lose weight to deliver somewhere. I am not upset about if we have to go back to Peterborough. We know the doctors..the nurses and team in the Prenatal and Delivery unit in Peterborough are amazing..just was hoping to avoid this road all together. If this baby comes fast and we do not make it in time may be different. We may have low sugar in the baby again if I am on insulin. Last pregnancy everything was completely normal..no difficulties until the birth day or days.

We always get through each hurdle...timing is not great since my husband is going to India for 2 weeks and I now may have a lot more distance appointments to attend.Lots of family around for support is a great blessing. We will definitely keep y'all more posted..I have not had much to say..all was normal and well until now.

I hope you all enjoy your Easter..I will be checking sugar levels with my monitor..dreaming of my Easter chocolate I should not or can't eat until I know more..if anyone wants ice cream...come on over.  Much love..xoxo

Baby #4

Here we are past half way through our 5th pregnancy..baby #4.

We have known for quite some time...in the fall before my DH was leaving to go to Texas for work for a week. We took a test..he did not want to believe the symptoms I was having was linked to now what we know as baby #4 on its way. I told him the day his flight was leaving...SURPRISE!

After this many times..you just know..call it mothers intuition. I did not have a period this time..I know I know TMI..but common honestly..its all linked. Lets say we got lucky..haha...literally and then bing bang boom....we created another miracle. Lets say timing around my birthday was a good thing. I did not normally worry about birth control while pumping or Breastfeeding due to I do not get periods when I am. We would have started to take more precautions if so. We waited a while to make it more special and a nice surprise. I always like waiting way until around or after the 3 month mark since we have had so many problems before dear Miss E. My DH started singing snip songs when he first found out due to we were probably going to have a 4th but after K was 1- 1/2. God does not always follow our plans and usually there is a reason..Blessed we are.

We are so excited to be having another baby. Our last set of firsts. Our days are never dull...or quiet lol..but we love our children and our lives. The journey we are on is ours and we love it. Today marks 8 years married and this summer we have been together 11years.

SO far so good..everything is healthy and going well. I do not have gestational thankfully. All blood work is in the clear...scans have been great! Blood pressure is sometimes high..but each day is different. We are due the end of May..the 28th. I always go early, so we shall see what happens. We are seeing a doctor in Cobourg and will be delivering there unless I go over their weight restrictions. I am only allowed to gain like 20 something pounds. They do not have a Special care nursery so for extra precautions if that happens you get sent to good old Peterborough where they do have a NICU and we have had all our other babies there anyways. I was originally going to have a midwife..or try and get one..but after being switched by my doctor by referral I did not want to switch again.

We have one more month appointment at the end of Feb and then we start going every 2 weeks. I am currently 23 weeks 4 days...so 24weeks this Saturday.

As for Sex...we are going out with a bang. With K i wanted to have a gender party...we did not have the chance too..I have started to order some things to get it started! It will be so exciting to share our big news with a celebration of a new life...I am thinking some minute to win it! Gender Style..and a big reveal! Who is in!!!!!!

I will post more after the next appointment..xoxoxo The Brants

K turned 1 years Old!

Hey y'all,

Sir K is now officially 1! We just has his 1 year appointment with our new doctors office in Cobourg and he is doing awesome! He is now a whole whopping 18lbs 10 oz. For him that is super considering before that he was 16lbs..so we are starting to be on the gaining incline nicely. He is also 73.6 cm in height...or 29 inches. We took our two needles like a true trooper!

We have started to drink out of a  sippy and straw cup if it means stealing our brothers drinks. We try randomly to give him his Straight up Homo milk to him at meals but we usually end up using a bottle where he is self feeding. If not we spit more than half of it out as a game. We are big on having our milk first but eating in between. He is definitely a boy who knows what he wants..you do not mess with him and his yogurt! When its food time or he thinks it is..K means business.

We are walking now when coaxed or from the table to couch..so 4-6 steps before getting down to crawl..give him chair or walking toy and he runs with it...across the length of the hall or house if he chooses. We do not have trouble getting around at all...in fact the one day there was a pillow that had fallen down from the couch and it sat near the coffee table...well K wasted no time in climbing on top of the coffee table to shake his bum around dancing and laughed the whole time..takes after his father already I tell ya!

We are repeating lots of words...mom, dad, "I got it or I did it", more, please, mine, hi and bye, car. We love to make clicking sounds with our mouth, blow kisses, vroooooom cars and waving. Shaking our head yes and no is a close favorite. Chasing the dog and pulling her hair is a new expertise..her water and food dish are never safe anymore. I have acquired a new member of the throw all the tupper ware on the floor club. If you are missing a sock or item...chances are at my house..K or O....hid it or have chewed on the sock! K loves to eat socks..wearing them is optional.

We are such a happy little guy. Always playing hide and seek..teething like mad..biting everyone and everything in sight..especially his sister which he loves to tackle. Our lives would be so dull without K...who we love...but he definitely is going to be trouble...especially when the two boys decide to gang up against the house rules.

O:

O has been off lately. Not sure if its teeth or just the fact that he was the last one to get sick and has not quite gotten over it all. We are up early..and to sleep later. We have been coming into our room a lot lately..sometimes as early as randomly 1am but most of the time around 4am. Also fighting meals..we have hit the 2 1/2 wants to make your own choices but not sure what you actually want so its a emotional draining battle of wills. We love to talk back in a deep monster mad voice..which evidently gets him into more trouble than his argument was worth.

He love to watch movies currently and will tell you which one he wants. We are big on cars and building and the boy will go anywhere if it includes a good old car ride. We started to dance and sing again more often. Today we were dancing during lunch to Kelly Clarkson's latest cd off my phone and he told me he really liked this music we were playing as he nodded and clapped and tapped to the beat.

E:
Miss E....miss independent but we are too tired and do not want to or know how. 4 years old....with a attitude. Threenagers are bad enough...4 when we are starting to become aware of the surroundings and more words..but have to test all the rules around us..with lots of talking back.

We signed E up for speech therapy and occupational..which other kids in her class do as well..thinking that it would help her with learning more at school...anything can help..she is after all the youngest in her school. Well they just finally starting accessing her and we signed her up in November...silly! She does not quite open up easily to new ppl and can be quite shy even if you do know her and has not seen you in awhile. I get a write up about each session. I am excited to see how much this helps her out since she loves school so dearly..if she ever opens up that is.

We are doing much better having no accidents and going daily usually on our own to the bathroom at school. So proud of how far she has come since the start of her school days.

Everyone is getting so grown up over here. Never a dull moment..xoxoxo
